The former Pühajärve Triathlon now part of the international TriStar series takes place near Otepää at Pühärjäve in Estonia, on 7 August 2011. The race with a total distance of 111km (1km swimming, 100km cycling and 10km running) is organized by PRO athlete Ain-Alar Juhanson and his team from 113km Klubi, the team that has organized the Pühajärve Triathlon for several years now.
The main race in the 111km- Format on Sunday and the 33.3 race at the same day will attract around 700 individual and relay athletes while the TriStar11.1 Estonia on Saturday, which is open for amateurs and kids will welcome another 200 athletes. The Star&Co village with around 40 stands for exhibitors will offer a rich selection of products and services to the athletes, family, friends and visitors.
Event venue is mainly the SPA Hotell Pühärjäve. Juhanson chose this partner also because of its philosophy of sustainability. all the heating is done with wood and the hotel is optimized for energy efficiency.
As the event is part of the international TriStar series it is also looking to live the TriStar philosophy. This is based on three main elements: fun, social responsibility and environment protection. This philosophy perfectly matches the vision of the organizing team as they choose the Otepää region as destination also for its affinity with nature.
In cooperation with the 4vita Association the TriStar111 Estonia organizing team now works to make this event sustainable. The 4vita program supports the development and realization of sustainable sports solutions in all fields of the event (see activity planning).
